We confess to You, O God, how weak we are in ourselves, how powerless to do the work of
life, how prone to selfishness and sin. We ask you to grant us the strength of Your Spirit and the
power of Your Christ, by which we can do all things. Enable us to repress every wilful purpose,
every unkind feeling, every thought, word and deed of anger and impatience, and to cherish
perfect love, constant kindness, to think pure thoughts, to speak gentle words, to do helpful and
generous deeds. Raise our minds to the contemplation of Your beloved Son. In seeing His
divine beauty, may we be drawn near to Him, changed into His image, and empowered to bring
every thought into obedience to Christ, into harmony with His Spirit and His immortal life – Amen.
