O Lord God Almighty, redeem my soul from its bondage, that I may live not for myself but for You. Help me to put away self, and to remember that this life is not given for my ease, my enjoyment. It is a schooling time for the eternal home You have prepared for those who love You. Keep my eye steadily fixed on that haven of rest and peace, that I may not faint nor be weary of the length of the way, but may strive to walk worthy of my high calling in all meekness and humility of heart. After I have suffered a while, strengthen, establish and settle me in your love. When I have done all the work You have for me to do, O gracious God, be with me to guide me through the valley of the shadow of death, and in Your own good time, take me to live with You–Amen.
